Recognized by U.S. News & World Report, the VCU School of Social Work is ranked 14th among the nation's top social work schools. The school's main campus is located in Richmond at one of the top research universities in the nation, Virginia Commonwealth University, where it offers all three degree levels — the bachelor's (B.S.W.), master's (M.S.W.) and doctorate (Ph.D.).
In addition it offers the M.S.W. at an off-campus site in Alexandria, Va., within an easy commute of the nation's capital. Since 1917, VCU's School of Social Work has been preparing students to bring about change through their knowledge and actions. With an internationally recognized faculty dedicated to scholarship and teaching, the VCU School of Social Work offers a unique combination of classroom and field experiences, emphasizing critical thinking, self-awareness, evidence-based decision-making and ethical integrity. Over 450 field instructors complement the full-time faculty and adjunct faculty of social work professionals in the B.S.W. and M.S.W. programs.
